About Michael

Michael Mehas is a writer and attorney living on California’s Central Coast. His first novel, Stolen Boy, has recently garnered nine prestigious book awards. They include a Gold Medal in fiction from Independent Publisher, the Best Book of the Year award in fiction from Books-And-Authors.net, Best New Fiction from National Best Books Awards, and first place from the Public Safety Writers Association for best novel. Stolen Boy has also been selected as a national finalist for best fiction from Indie Excellence Awards and National Best Books Awards, Honorable Mention for best fiction from both the New York Book Festival and the Hollywood Book Festival, and won an Irwin Award for Best Fiction Campaign.

Stolen Boy provides a gripping exploration of the reasons behind the shocking story of Jesse James Hollywood, the youngest man ever on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. While researching Hollywood’s case for the film Alpha Dog and the book Stolen Boy, Michael became deeply enmeshed with those involved in the trial, which led him to become a key witness in Hollywood’s death penalty defense. Deeply moved by the experience, Michael now speaks publicly and writes about important social issues, including teen rights and the abolition of capital punishment, on his blog site at http://StolenBoy.com.

StolenBoy.com is dedicated to preserving the youth in all of us. Extending to our children the freedom and love we all wished for ourselves when we were growing up. It is a marketplace for ideas and discussion about what we can do to change the world around us. To make this a safer place for our children and us to live. To bring compassion and tolerance and understanding to everyone at all times, despite their age, color, religion, or past history. To help effectuate positive social change consistent with man’s collective evolution.

A counselor and guide to troubled teens and their parents, Michael also teaches the Yin and Yang of writing at Ventura College. And he hosts a workshop and book study group, called Transformational Third Thursdays, at Bank of Books, Ventura’s new “literary watering hole.”

What happen during Jesse Rugge’s trial? Please answer back ASAP!

  2. Stolen Boy says:

Rugge was acquitted of murder, beat the special circumstance of committing a crime while using a machine gun, and convicted of kidnapping, which got him life in prison with the possibility of parole.

  3. Jason says:

What happen during Ryan Hoyt’s trial?

  4. Jason says:

How did you captured Jesse James Hollywood?

  5. Stolen Boy says:

Ryan was convicted and sentenced to death. He’s appealing his sentence as we speak. He still maintains his innocence…

  6. Phil says:

That picture of Brandon Mcinerny that you and the press is using, was taken when he was 12 years old. Why dont you use one that shows what he was like at 14 when he committed murder or at least mention that he was 12 in the photo. Let’s get the facts out there. He still has shown no remorse for the killing of Larry King.

  7. George Hale says:

Alarming: “To help effectuate positive social change consistent with man’s collective evolution.” However, I could assume you mean evolution in a learning sense not in a transforming sense. You see, all we have a right to is moral choice; not to judge. There is no evolution, only a transmutation of behavior.
