Hi, wow, what a night. Thankyou for the moments on the phone Mik. So very happy to hear of peace. I remember vividly the initiating process - those few days we spent together, the time we had to hash it out. You spoke of the one face of your father that I loved, the one you came to know. He loved you very much and had wished for your love. He longed for your respect and acceptance. I know that you carried the very same torment as well. I am happy for you both to have come to the great realization that walls are nothing but temporary blocks.
I am at peace with the past now too. Thank you for your words. In prayer for you and Big Mik, and for us all for a better world.....XC

I knew your father in the early 80's. I used to go and visit him and Amber in the hills next door to the Cassavetes place, with Ringo and Barbara living a stone's throw down the hill. He was a very interesting character and was always nice to me, but I see how he got the bad boy image. Im shocked to learn he started playing croquet, but with his baseball background, I can see how he gravitated toward the sport. I last saw him when I ran into him in Sunset Beach in the mid 90's at a small cafe and he was more relaxed and pleasant than he had been in the past. He seemed like a changed man, for the better. I was always wondering about him and how he was doing and I'm sorry to hear about his passing. I wish you and your family all the best.

Michael,
I got along with your Dad. I beat him only once at Pinehurst a couple years ago. He helped with our Junior Golf Croquet Tournament. I save and cherish his thank you note. And pray for you both.
Take care,

Michael,
Although we have never met, I had the honor of knowing Mik quite well. He was an amazing man, and my life is certainly far richer for having known him. My sincere condolences to you, your sister and family.

Dearest Michael,

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Father. My heart aches for you and your family. What an inspirational peice you wrote about his passing. It was so touching, it brought tears to my eyes.

You look very much like your Father and obviously he did an excellent job raising a fine man, that being you. I pray you and your family find peice in this humbling sad time. My prayers and thoughts are always with you my friend and I am here if you ever need me.

God Bless,

Michael,
My name is Catharine Fournier. I don't know if your Dad ever spoke of my dad, my family, or me, but we were friends. My Dad was Don Fournier, "the Godfather of Croquet". He died in 2000 of Glioblastoma Stage 4. He only lived 4 months after diagnosis. We had several Debulking surgeries and he did Gamma Knife and Chemo. It was awful.

So strange for them to have both come down with this extremely rare type of cancer, although not out of character for either of them. Mik and my Dad both were men who took pride in not being ordinary. Of course, along with that, it would be silly if some ordinary disease had taken them. They both faught hard and I am so proud of Mik for his fight.

I got to know Mik well in the 90s. He and I shared philosophies on life and God. He encouraged me to read the Celestine Prophecy and I did and we would chat. When he came to town for some croquet in 2004 he stayed with us and ate grapefruits from our trees all day. He was always a character to have around.

I know he is fine and am thankful that his pain and suffering are over. Hopefully he and my Dad are playing a match somewhere right now.
