Recently heard from my faaaavorite Sisters in Crime, you know the kind, the ones from San Joaquin, who know how to throw da’ kine shindig, if you know what I mean. I should know, I’ve been there. Done that, and survived to tell about it. And I can’t wait to get invited back.
Bill Moal, like one of the only two guys in the whole group of fun loving and intelligently talented women who like to pen the stuff that blood and guts are made from, sent me the latest newsletter the group puts out. I’ve attached it below (click image), a whopping eight pages of accolades, writing notes, stories, features, and, oh yes, plenty of crime.
If you live in the San Joaquin Valley or like to write crime, or maybe you’re just a criminal who likes to write, or, maybe you don’t live in the San Joaquin Valley and you’re a criminal who likes to write about crime, or maybe you’re not a criminal but a cop who likes to read what women have to write about crime…then you definitely might want to think about checking this group out. I did.
Sister doin’ the crime time.
Surrounded by Sisters in Crime.
Commit the crime, do the time.
More Sisters in crime.
Writing can be a lonely place sometimes, and like I always say, always, I’m telling you I always say this: “If you want to write, be a writer.” Hang out with writers. Eat with them. Talk with them (yes, we writers know how to talk, and some in English). Feel what it is to be a writer.
Sister on the rise.
Saluting crime and passion.
Quick, quick, what’s my name again.
If you were in Ventura, I’d tell you to come down to the city’s literary watering hole that is the Bank of Books. Hang where the writers do their thing. If you’re near Fresno, I say be with the Sisters. Just ask Bill. Or Carrie. Or Jean, or Tracy, or any of the number of wonderful Sisters who could teach you a thing or three. They did me.

Hi Michael,
Just wanted to tell you that I found out in October of 2009, the Author’s Faire will be resuming in San Luis Obispo. I hope to see you there so you can autograph my “Stolen Boy” book.
God Bless and Take Care!
